True Strength (Part 1)

★People Who Stay in the World of Dualistic Opposition

People who, whenever they open their mouths, do nothing but criticize, blame, and pass selfish judgments on others can be said to find value in dualistic contests of superiority and inferiority.

For such people, only winning the survival-of-the-fittest competition among humans is success, and they seriously believe that those who succeed at it are the winners in life.

At such times, the heart remains at a stage where, from assumptions like “I’m more right, stronger, more justified,” it ends up trying to stand above others.

And those who judge themselves to have lost that contest try to vent their frustration by beating down those who are even weaker.

In such a world, in every age, the socially vulnerable have been women, children, and the elderly.

A state of mind that lives finding value in such survival-of-the-fittest competition is a state in which divinity is still asleep.

To some people on other stars with few ties to Earth, such a state of Earth looks, in part, like a young star still in the middle of growing up.

★Where There Is Divinity, There Is No Enemy

But we know that your essence lies in the same divinity as ours.

People who have manifested that divinity would never think of ranking self and others as superior and inferior, placing themselves above and holding others down beneath them.

To begin with, the idea of doing such a thing doesn’t even occur to them.

“A person who has manifested divinity” here means someone with a strong, fine heart, and such a person has no enemy; in other words, they are invincible.

A person in that invincible state of mind is called “a person who has manifested divinity.”

So it is the people who live expressing divinity who can be called truly strong.

★The Stronger and the Finer You Are

The stronger a person is, the finer a person is, the more they will originally, as in the saying “The fuller the ear of rice, the lower it bows its head,” place themselves in the lower seat, give others the credit, and behave modestly.

That is what makes a real human being, a true person.

In today’s world, though real human beings who have rapidly remembered their divinity have begun to appear, there are still many people in this world whose divinity is still asleep.

The greatest and most fundamental difference between humans and other animals is whether or not they have reason.

That reason can also be called divinity, so at its root lies loving compassion that seeks to protect, nurture, and give life to all things.

And you could say that people who live with a heart that keeps its reason have hearts with the same nature as water.

Such people’s thoughts flow from high places to low places; put in a triangular vessel, they become triangular; put in a round vessel, they take a round shape. Since there is no obstacle of the individual self, they can change themselves freely according to the situation and harmonize with every place on Earth.

However right you may feel you are, it’s desirable to have flexible thinking that can bend when it’s time to bend.

Otherwise it’s hard to help pour the original light of life into the hearts of wounded, lost humanity and help them regain their original, reasonable view.

★The True Strength You Should Have

To be like that, you have to be strong.

The true strength a person should have is, as I said a moment ago, not physical strength, military might, or the eloquence to defeat others in argument.

Strength here means having a heart of loving compassion rooted in true humanity, and the power to deal well with all things, standing on reason based on that heart.

That consciousness is the invincible heart, the way of divinity.

I’ll repeat it: invincible doesn’t mean the strength never to lose against anyone you fight.

It means true human strength that transcends winning and losing, which can take in everything and look at it held in the palm of your hand. (Continued next time)
