Shedding Your Skin into a Consciousness Where “We,” “Our,” and “Us” Come Naturally – 3

Making an Altruistic Heart Your Natural Way of Being

It’s only recently become widely known that the true work of the Emperor of Japan is prayer, hasn’t it?

Someone who becomes emperor is educated from early childhood to become an “empty vessel,” so they have no habit of thinking in terms of their own convenience.

What’s more, they are people in whom a very high-ranking Deity, even among the high Deities, has been born into a physical body, so their ego is thin from birth.

That’s why they can pray for the world and for others as a matter of course.

So you could say that such a person is someone who simply shines and shows people what they are meant to be.

A moment ago I said, “Praying for the peace of the world and the tranquility of one’s country isn’t reserved only for the emperor,” didn’t I?

The living being called a human, whoever they are, is made so that once they begin to remember their divinity, without a single exception, a consciousness awakens in them that can’t help but live for the world and for others.

What do you think the ultimate secret is for making that altruistic heart your own?

It’s getting along with yourself.

Did you think, “Is that all?”

But sadly, almost all of Earth’s humanity can’t manage that seemingly simple thing.

So many people try to make the outer world’s humanity better without getting along with the world’s humanity inside themselves.

That’s like trying to reach a destination without moving your legs, or trying to pick something up without reaching out your hand, which is why we say, “That’s asking the impossible.”

How to Harmonize Your Relationship with Yourself

The way to harmonize your relationship with yourself and get along with yourself is to remember the fact that the feelings you sense through all your senses “were like the impressions you have of what you see reflected in a mirror.”

Listen, okay? The one reflected in that mirror is you. Only you, and nothing other than you, is reflected there.

And yet, because you’ve mistaken the feelings you sense with your five or six senses for things about the outside world, you ended up thinking this and that about other people and society, and no matter how much time passed, you couldn’t bring yourself into harmony.

The founder of Tenrikyo is said to have once said, “This world is a house of mirrors,” and it really is true.

Close your physical eyes and open wide the eyes of your heart.

Then observe what you think about your own parents and siblings.

How about your schoolteachers and friends, your bosses, coworkers, and the people who work under you?

Or what do you think about the movements of your own country and other countries?

“That person is like this, this person is like that,” or “that country is good, this country is bad.” You hold some kind of impression, don’t you?

While you think all those feelings are about other people and society, they are actually one side of your impressions about yourself.

The world you think of as “this world” is a world where your inner universe is unfolding. (To be continued)
