★To Establish Your True Self
It’s natural to feel happy or unhappy depending on changes in outer conditions, but if you stay there, your happiness will be at the mercy of outside things.
Why? Because the happiness you can feel in that state of mind is a fleeting happiness that would blow away in a puff of wind.
That’s exactly why we want you to know that there is a more unshakable happiness.
That you can imagine or hope for only a happiness that is swayed by one’s surroundings and, in the end, tossed about by them is, to put it plainly, because one’s “self” as a person hasn’t been established.
To put it another way, no matter how much life experience someone has built up, establishing the inner self is an important theme they can take up at any time.
If you compare establishing the self to making a doll out of clay, it means you’re at the stage of shaping it from here on.
But many people, having lived a long time, feel they already understand.
What do you think that means?
Yes, yes, you’ve got it.
They’re living by tracing, without realizing it, the templates of precedent and common sense made by those who came before.
“When I’m such-and-such an age, I’ll probably be behaving this way.”
“By a certain age, I’ll probably be like that.”
“When you get old, your body starts falling apart.”
“Cancer runs in my family, so I’ll probably get it someday too.”
There’s no end to them if you start counting, but many people end up tracing such molds of memory before they know it.

★Let’s Explore a Happiness Not Swayed by Outer Conditions
People who were fresh newcomers in their youth may, after passing through their forties and fifties and entering their sixties, forget a little of the freshness of their younger days.
There are people who have entered old age keeping the fresh sensitivity of their boyhood or girlhood, and anyone, at any age, can regain that sensitivity.
Let’s think together about what people who have grown older can leave for the younger generations.
Even people who aren’t that age now will eventually be in that position themselves.
As the saying goes, “Time flies like an arrow.”
Seen from the universe, a human lifetime is just a fleeting moment, about as long as a single blink of the eye, or not even that.
Don’t think, “That has nothing to do with me.” It’s good to reflect on how you live while you’re young and correct your course little by little.
In short, explore what kind of thing a happiness not swayed by outer conditions is.
Make that second nature from the time you’re young.
That will become the very foundation for the evolution of consciousness. (To be continued)
