To Grow Together with Children (Part 1)

★So that all adults may truly realize how precious children’s lives are

From the adult’s side, time spent with children really does help adults evolve their consciousness, doesn’t it?

Even adults without children of their own may find that love they had buried in darkness is awakened through the children of relatives or acquaintances, or children they see in the neighborhood, around town, or on trains and buses.

In that sense children can be called angels who scatter light into people’s hearts, and they truly, truly are messengers of heaven.

Looking down from above, many adults don’t yet seem to realize that they are being raised by children.

Many adults on earth deal with children with thoughts like “we’re raising them,” “we’re looking after them,” “we’re supporting them.”

That state of consciousness is seen especially often among men.

Most women, whether or not they have children, carry motherliness within, so toward children, unconditional love wins out over ego and pours forth, and many of them are aware that they’re growing together with the children.

However egotistical someone may have been in their life so far, however narcissistic they may have been up to this very day, when they have heartfelt contact, body and soul, with children, the unconditional love within them comes pouring out.

You could call it the natural form of love rooted in divinity.

Unless adults protect them, newborn children can’t live independently by their own strength.

When you touch that little body that looks as if it might break if you held it too tightly, anyone, without realizing it, comes to know with what eyes the gods look upon their descendants, physical humanity, and how they treat them.

In those sparkling eyes without a trace of malice, you see the glimmer of the divinity you had completely forgotten.

And through the days of caring for them as they fuss innocently, unable to put things into words, overcoming your own emotional struggles while cultivating selfless love, your strength as a human being is polished and raised.

In this way, adults, without even realizing it themselves, have their heaven-sent nature as people (hito, “where the spirit dwells”) polished out of them, and in many cases, though unaware of it, they are developing their spirituality.

That’s why all adults should know this fact and be grateful to children.

When you feel like opposing a daycare or kindergarten being built in your neighborhood, please stop for a moment and think.

Perhaps such a thought comes up because that person’s heart is still covered by past karma.

At times like that, perhaps they’ve simply forgotten that they too had a childhood, and have lived until today being cared for by the adults around them.

If you carefully observe such adults, you can imagine the hardships of the Guardian Deities and Spirits who protect and guide physical humanity with unconditional love. (To be continued)
