To Climb the Steps of Truth Correctly (Part 1)

★The Geocentric Theory and the Heliocentric Theory

Long ago, most people on Earth, watching the stars turning in the night sky and the sun rising from the far east and setting in the far west, thought Earth was the center of the universe.

Then, in time, it became clear that Earth was not the center of the universe.

Among the things you learned at school are the geocentric theory and the heliocentric theory, right?

The theory that Earth is the center of the universe and all the stars revolve around Earth, and the theory that the center of the universe is the sun, and Earth and the other planets revolve around the sun while rotating.

Now, though it’s still partly at the stage of hypothesis, a whole picture of the universe is beginning to be understood in which there are many tiny galaxies like the solar-system galaxy made of a fixed star and planets, which make up small galaxies; those small galaxies gather into medium-small galaxies; those gather into medium galaxies; those become even larger great galaxies; those great galaxies gather into even larger… and so on, approaching the central galaxy, until finally the whole great universe revolves around one central fixed star.

In truth there is a deeper fact behind that, but for today, let me take up the geocentric theory and heliocentric theory I just mentioned, and the latest heliocentric theory, whose scale extends to the whole universe, to explain that truth too has stages of practice that match one’s state of mind.

I’m taking this up because it’s just the right material for explaining how to live in this age when Earth’s common sense is about to change completely. Just as people who can’t accept the heliocentric theory can’t understand the talk that galaxies have a nested structure, with many galaxies gathering into larger galaxies, for people who can’t acknowledge from the bottom of their hearts that their own essence lies in divinity, getting them to understand it is hard work, and explaining an even deeper truth (the truth that all humanity are divine beings) is something they simply have no way of understanding.

Just as the whole picture of the universe comes to be clearly understood according to Earth’s humanity’s understanding of it, from the geocentric theory to the heliocentric theory, and from the heliocentric theory to a greater heliocentric theory, unless you convey truth whose content matches the person’s state of mind, it’s like pie in the sky, and even if they practice that truth, they can hardly feel any real change or evolution.

★The Steps from Basics to Application in Arithmetic

To explain this with a different topic… let’s see, for example with arithmetic: to a child who doesn’t know numbers, you first teach that there are numbers, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10…, right?

Once they’ve learned numbers, next you teach addition and subtraction, right?

Once they’ve learned addition and subtraction, next you teach multiplication and division, don’t you?

Then, when you have them solve the problem, “There were 7 bags each holding 7 apples. How many apples are there in all?”, a child at the stage of addition and subtraction calculates “7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 = 49” to reach the answer.

A child who has learned multiplication and division can reach the answer more easily than with addition, using multiplication: “7 × 7 = 49,” right?

The truth of how humans live, too, if you learn and practice it step by step from the basics like that, lets you connect directly with the light of the source of life more easily, and you can create your destiny with ease.

Among you, there may be some who, stretching beyond themselves (pretending to know), want to practice deep truth right away and achieve bigger results.

But just as in the arithmetic example I just gave, if you don’t first know numbers themselves, you can’t possibly do addition and subtraction, nor understand multiplication and division. In the same way, the search for and practice of truth also has procedures and steps that must be followed.
