Training Your Power of Recognition (Part 1)

★Practice looking by changing the angle and dimension of your consciousness

As a way to evolve your consciousness in the midst of your daily work, it’s good to train yourself to change, now and then, the angle and dimension from which you send out your consciousness.

If we were to explain it in third-dimensional terms… for example, let’s see—yes, for example, people who always look down on others from above may not understand the feelings of those who look up from below, right?

And people who always look at things only from the right side don’t know how things look from the left side.

People who have only ever seen Mount Fuji from the Pacific side don’t know the beautiful triangular Mount Fuji seen from the Lake Kawaguchi side; and people who only look at others from straight in front, on the surface, can’t see their sides, their backs, or into their hearts.

And people who shut themselves up in the shell of the ego and always look at the world only from their own side are in a state of consciousness where recognition from a viewpoint outside the ego they think of as themselves is beyond their imagination and hard to understand, aren’t they?

So in today’s talk, for those who aim for the evolution of consciousness, let’s talk about a part of the viewpoints we recognize: “There are also ways of seeing and thinking like this.”

All right?

Settle your surface consciousness with deep breathing, tune in to the eyes and ears of the heart (the divine eye and the divine ear) that embrace both subject and object, and listen carefully.

All the events and relationships that appear in the world are projections of the inner universe of the very person who sees and feels them that way. So if you look at this world (the outside) as the main subject and try to make the world better only by changing things other than yourself (the inside)—the external objects—in a sense, it can become a roundabout way.

Because if you try to change only your surroundings without changing your own recognition, force collides with force, and resistance arises, doesn’t it?

★What needs to change is your own recognition — trying to change someone or something is sending out consciousness from the wrong angle and dimension

So in truth, before trying to change others or the outer world, you have to raise the dimension of your own recognition.

When you try to change only the outer world, the ego easily slips in.

Put the other way around, when the way you see the world outside you changes, the object itself changes.

Because your recognition changes, it looks different.

Only then does the power to change the outer object begin to work.

That’s why we always say, “Let’s find divinity in everything.”

The reality for many of Earth’s humanity is that, without understanding this principle, they rub against and clash with themselves and others, and then struggle to clean up the situation.

By “rubbing against and clashing with themselves and others,” we mean not only with something or someone outside, but also that, within themselves, they experience the rubbing and clashing called inner conflict.

Do you understand?

Ultimately, everyone sees others and feels the world exactly as they themselves recognize them.

Why do we say so? Because it isn’t that a fixed other person exists first and speaks or behaves toward you, nor that the world was already the way you think it is before you recognized it that way.

Even your recognition of someone—”This person is this kind of person”—is only one side seen from your viewpoint.

And your view of the world—”This world is such-and-such a world”—is only the world as you recognize it.

If you look strictly at what “facts” people believe to be true really are, you could say there are as many of them as there are people. (To be continued next time)
