How to Use the Conscious Resources You Have Now and Expand Their Domain
So the secret to using your scarce conscious resources effectively and evolving in consciousness efficiently lies in preparing the basic preconditions, before you think anything at each moment.
That is consciously practiced deep breathing.
Why does that prepare an environment for using conscious resources effectively? Because consciousness is connected to the source of life through breathing, and deep breathing has the effect of thickening that connection.
How many weeks or months it takes for deep breathing to become a habit depends on the person. But as long as you keep practicing consciously deepening your breath without giving up, eventually, for anyone, the way all their conscious resources are used, including unconscious judgments, comes to enter wholly into the dimension of the spirit body and divine body, and whether conscious or unconscious, the thoughts they send out naturally transform into ones that come from divinity. That’s where it leads.
The good thing about this method is that, unlike trying to achieve the evolution of consciousness with a surface consciousness that believes the physical body is yourself, you become one with the light of life without knowing it, and the consciousness of life comes resounding to the surface before you realize.

Believing in Yourself = Believing in Life
The reason you’ve had so many setbacks until now, and more often than not nothing came of things, is that you didn’t understand such ways of using conscious resources or your own true heart and true body, and your physical self was trying to do it.
Instead, if you do it standing as “the self on the side of life” deep within the physical body, then whether you’re trying to overcome something or accomplish something, it all happens within a vibration of joy, and the feeling of tackling it positively keeps going steadily.
The way to do that, as I’ve said many times, lies in keeping up deep breathing.
As long as you devote your life to it, even things you used to shrink back from as difficult, you can overcome and achieve with ease. At the same time, your conscious resources keep expanding, and an unwavering belief and conviction deepens, “My true self was divine humanity. My present self is unmistakably my divine self,” until eventually that thought can enter the domain of your natural consciousness.
To put it in the extreme, and this really is a blunt way to say it, it comes down to this: “If you think it’s impossible, you can’t. But if you think you can, you can. It’s all right; if you think it’s possible, you can surely see it through, within the range of what you thought.”
So when your thoughts go back and forth in your head, “It’s not this, it’s not that,” and you can’t keep up tremendous trust in your own Light of Life (infinite ability and creativity), it’s good to make time, even before going to bed at night, to sit in seiza, the formal kneeling posture, and do deep breathing with kotodama.
If seiza is hard, sitting in a chair with good posture is fine, or you can lie in bed with your hands clasped around the Lower Dantian and face the light of life.
And get good-quality sleep.
Then when you wake up the next morning, your body and mind will have shifted from a sympathetic-dominant state to a parasympathetic-dominant one, and you can use your consciousness effectively, full of vitality. So you can live in a way that kills two birds with one stone: doing your daily work to the fullest while using the conscious resources you have now effectively, and achieving the evolution of consciousness at the same time.
