Graduating from the Misunderstandings Good People Easily Fall Into – 1

The State of Self-Righteousness

Truly good people have one thing in common: “their hearts are boundlessly bright.”

But in the case of people of whom others say, “That person is good, but somehow doesn’t feel bright,” they’ve firmly armored themselves with the theoretical armor of their assumptions, building invisible walls between themselves and others, and sometimes even standing in opposition to society and the world.

You could say it’s a state where the heart can’t be free, hardened into thoughts of the “it should be like this” or “it has to be like that” kind.

That’s why boundless brightness doesn’t come to the surface, and the heart is always clouded with needless criticism and blame.

Among people whom both they and others recognize as good people, there are surprisingly many like that.

In such cases, the person is strongly convinced that “this is right,” so it’s hard for them to get out of that state.

People often say, “You can’t change others. The only one you can change is yourself,” right?

That’s the real truth.

But in “the state of self-righteousness” that humans easily fall into, a filter comes over that truth, and it gets twisted.

Into: “It’s possible to change others. Others must be changed, no matter what.”

That’s a state in which “a self-centered sense of justice” is at work, and that very assumption builds invisible walls between oneself and others and gets in the way of a fundamental sense of oneness with society and the whole world.

Truly Knowing Human Beings

Ideals like “it has to be like this” and “it should be like that” have the power to evolve the consciousness of the person who holds them up to a certain level, but if you drown in those thoughts, you forget true humility and end up binding everyone and anyone with “it should be like this.”

As I always say, every thought, word, and deed a person expresses has its own clear cause for why they did it.

On Earth, tornadoes of judging others, “Why on earth does that person do things like that?”, spring up here and there, but that comes from not yet knowing human beings very well.

So then the question is how to know human beings, right?

Now, let’s think about it.

What do you think you need to do to truly know human beings?

That’s right: it’s to know life, and for that, it’s “to know yourself well.”

I always say that among the feelings you have about others, “the kinds of thoughts that shake your emotions” are, every one of them, you using others as a mirror to see your own disharmony reflected, don’t I?

That really is simply a fact, and until a person can accept it as a fact, the clouds in their heart won’t clear.

Human beings are actually filled with a consciousness as wide, vast, and deep as a clear sky that goes on forever.

But people whose various assumptions have been strengthened to the point of being called beliefs have those habits of thought hanging over the sky of their heart like dark clouds, and they’ve simply forgotten for a little while that wide heart’s original way of being.
