★Let’s rebuild your mind and body from the foundation
Human life was originally, for everyone, a being of consciousness without attachment, with not the slightest fixation or assumption.
But as a result of creating the physical world and being reborn in it again and again, humanity completely forgot that fact.
If we compare you to an apartment building, innovation of the heart could be described as rebuilding yourself into a completely new mind and body (spirit and flesh).
With real buildings, too, when they get to be around fifty years old, the outer walls and interiors fade and decay, problems with rust and clogging keep occurring in the plumbing, and the floors, ceilings, and everything else become worn, don’t they?
In some cases, old buildings were built to old standards, so after repeated earthquakes the cracks in the frame widen until the building is in no state to go on living in as it is.
When it comes to buildings, the word “renovation,” meaning “comprehensive remodeling to restore value,” seems to be popular. But when it comes to the human mind and body, divine consciousness can’t be built on the old foundation of karmic thoughts. That’s why we say you need to rebuild your mind and body in order to bring about a fundamental revolution in your heart.
A wholly divine consciousness can’t be built on top of the common sense you’ve held until now or an old, unchanging way of living.
That is the fact.
For the human mind and body to live freely in the spiritualized world ahead, rather than remodeling or renovating your mind and body as they have been, it’s better to rebuild your heart and body from a cleared lot where everything has been returned to zero (in Japanese, “zero” and “spirit” are both pronounced rei).
In this way, to live the future ahead on this star with joy, you need to clear away all your memories and common-sense recognitions until now and rebuild with a new consciousness.
That is innovation of the heart.
As we’ve said many times, the consciousness you took to be yourself until now, and the thoughts with which you recognized the world using it, were all illusions and hallucinations stuck to the physical body.
That is also something many saints have taught for thousands of years.
For example, Shakyamuni, born in India, gave teachings to the effect of, “Your recognition is inverted and deluded from its very foundation. For you to know the truth of life, you must correct that upside-down recognition from the root.” And Jesus Christ, too, urged a fundamental renewal of consciousness with words like, “No one puts new wine into old wineskins,” didn’t he?
